Trophy Presentation Interview

Atlanta Drive GC 4, New York Golf Club 3

SCOTT VAN PELT: Patrick, I'll start with you, just because you had to finish it off. The hammer is thrown and you know what has to happen. You were clutch last night and were again. What's it like when you know if I can get this thing up-and-down, we're going to win this bad boy.

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, it frees you up a little bit. I figured it if we made a birdie we'd have a good chance at closing it out. I like being in that spot, in that anchor spot, and the boys played great tonight. No surprise, Billy Horschel made another putt worth two points, and that's kind of been all season.

These guys have played great, and it's been a pleasure to be with them.

SCOTT VAN PELT: Billy, an incredible moment. You completely lost your mind. What do you remember about what happened?

BILLY HORSCHEL: Walking away when the ball was about two feet knowing it was going in. I don't remember throwing the putter down, and I remember saying it was my effin' house. That was it. And I said it repeatedly multiple, multiple times. Sorry, Jeff, hopefully you hit that eight-second delay button on there.

SCOTT VAN PELT: Your kids are here, aren't they?

BILLY HORSCHEL: Listen, they've heard it and they know not to say it.

SCOTT VAN PELT: The fun and the energy that your team played with all year, how critical was that to riding that to this moment?

BILLY HORSCHEL: I think it's huge. I think you've got to embrace what this is. This is something that's different than what we play every week of the year. We want to come in here and compete. We want to come in here and entertain. That's what this is about.

I think we do a great job of that. We're yin and yanging off each other. None of us is afraid to step back and let someone else lead in that moment. So we do a great job of feeding off each other, and it's been great to be with all three of these guys.

SCOTT VAN PELT: JT, to stand here as champions, this journey to this moment, has is surprised you how much fun it's been, how tense it's been and how much this has really been consumed by the country?

JUSTIN THOMAS: Yeah, it's completely exceeded my expectations. It's been a blast, and the competitiveness once the playoffs got here, those guys -- I'm sure they would say the same teammates, that they were different last night. It was not chippy, but it just was competitive. We wanted to win.

Yeah, like Pat said, Billy kind of does Billy things, and I unfortunately have gotten in the way of two of them, so my hand is very happy this season is over because I don't know how much more Billy Ho I can take.
