THE MODERATOR: Welcome all four members of New York Golf Club. Tough day. Rickie, I think you had a good comment for Matt after the last match there at the end. I think you told him, it's not your fault?
RICKIE FOWLER: I just said, well, it wasn't you. Yeah, tough night. Struggled to kind of really get anything going. Couldn't really get any momentum. That was a big thing.
Then obviously in alternate shot, it's tough to get in a rhythm by yourself because you're not hitting multiple shots in a row. I think we would hit some good ones and couldn't really get the whole thing rolling. Didn't make many putts.
We've been in a similar position before, so we're still alive. We can have some fun next week.
Q. What positives can you take from tonight that you can carry forward as the playoff picture continues to take shape?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: I think Matt Fitzpatrick is an incredible teammate. He came back after dinner, watched us lose, and now he's doing losing press with us, so that's a huge positive that I'm taking away tonight.
Q. Are you able to characterize maybe why this year has felt different for you guys? Obviously it's kind of like night and day so far standings-wise for the group this year.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: I don't think we did so good last year either.
RICKIE FOWLER: Last year we didn't get off to such a hot start. I felt like we were probably in a better spot after two matches and then obviously having -- we had five and a half weeks off, so could be something with having that much time of not having matches to kind of build some momentum with that and write off that win that we had.
So this night could have went kind of -- there was three options, obviously. We got the bad end of it.
But there was a lot that could happen tonight, like I said, after having that break and then going right back into it.
