Q. Does contending feel any different post-win, kind of having gotten the first win since 2022?
JUSTIN THOMAS: It's probably not fair -- or I probably can't honestly answer today, maybe tomorrow. It didn't today.
It's probably more of a comfort level where my game's at and the head space I'm in, but yeah, I might be able to answer it better come tomorrow.
Q. What did you hit into 18?
JUSTIN THOMAS: I hit 5-iron. Just had a flyer and kind of tried to punch it up there.
Q. How has the golf course changed the last three days? The greens have been soft all three days, but it's been very different scoring conditions, obviously.
JUSTIN THOMAS: Yeah, it's obviously been very different. Thursday was as easy as we were going to get this place. I thought the pins weren't set up very difficult. We didn't have very much wind. The fairways were firm, so the ball's going a mile, and then the greens were soft. That's a pretty good recipe for us shooting low scores.
Then obviously yesterday was what it was, so that presented a different challenge. Then today with the wind, it just was one of those days. I mean, it seemed like it was -- you know, it was obviously very cold this morning and windy in the morning, and it kind of slowed down a little bit there maybe the last three holes or so.
Yeah, it just was very gusty, and they required different almost like strategies or mindset, I'd say, each day.
Q. Aside from the conditions yesterday, I think people are going to be a little surprised that the scoring didn't get as low as maybe some people thought at the beginning of the week. How do you think the golf course kind of fought back, so to say?
JUSTIN THOMAS: I'd say the weather did. I mean, it's not fair to say that this course is too easy or too hard, given the certain conditions. You could say that about a lot of places.
If this place had proper long rough and if the greens were firm and fast, it would be a tough challenge for us. They would need to pinch in the fairway some too, but I've said that for years now. The biggest difference for us is soft greens. So when the greens are soft, we can always salvage decent. Then if we don't have days like yesterday or wind like today, we're going to shoot low.
Q. You said on radio you didn't have your best stuff. What was key to posting a decent number on a day you didn't have your best stuff?
JUSTIN THOMAS: I'd say just staying patient, kind of going one shot at a time, one hole at a time. Just trying to get kind of as much as I can out of whatever I had.
I mean, bogeying the two par-5s is just horrific out here. Just one bad -- obviously a really terrible drive there on 5. Just didn't play the hole very well on 15.
Yeah, just kind of fought, battled, stayed patient, and just tried to take advantage of the opportunities when I had them.
Q. You've had a handful of top 10s obviously this year and the win. How do you describe the confidence and the zone that you're in to not having your best stuff and keep posting numbers and put yourself in contention repeatedly?
JUSTIN THOMAS: I would say it's a lot of probably faith and belief in my game and where everything's at. I think it doesn't -- it doesn't just happen coincidentally. I do think it's something that you can do the best that you can in terms of thinking your way to being more positive and good things will happen.
At the end of the day, it requires a little bit of both in my opinion. It's just more of trying to get my game to a place close to where it is now of believing I just need to just play golf. Don't do anything special, don't force the issue, and just try to let things happen more often.
