Q. Was the difference between the two days as big as the scores would imply?
RICKIE FOWLER: You could probably say that. I was battling a bit of a sinus infection early in the week. Tuesday night, Wednesday night, probably 102, 103, yeah, I was a little loopy and didn't quite feel like my head was in the right spot on my body. So tried to fight through yesterday the best I could. Yeah, there were times I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to hit the hole from a few feet, so it was nice to be back in a better spot physically today.
Q. When did you start feeling better?
RICKIE FOWLER: After getting through yesterday. Last night I knew I was in a better spot. Then after, yeah, how I slept, how I felt through the night, and then waking up definitely a bit more normal this morning.
Q. Your last couple tournaments suggest you're onto something. Does it feel like this is more validation that it's getting close?
RICKIE FOWLER: Yeah, there's been a lot of good stuff. Obviously going back looking at last year and last summer and kind of building off of that, to be in a spot where the body feels better than it did last year. And also knowing that, yeah, in a good spot with the game, body's in a better spot than it was last year, and just kind of continuing to build off of that. Seeing plenty of good things and finally starting to build more momentum and more confidence.
Q. What was the best thing you did today? I mean, something really stand out that sort of allowed this to happen?
RICKIE FOWLER: I think, I mean, patient. Kind of stayed out of my own way. Didn't try to really do anything too special, as far as like trying to hit the perfect shot or anything like that. Just, hey, keep it simple. Obviously it sounds a lot easier than it is. But there's plenty of times where you sometimes, you know, try and do a little too much with certain shots or with a tee ball, versus just step up and hit it as if you were sitting on the driving range. Which is, like I said, a lot easier said than done.
Q. Was this like a dad sickness?
RICKIE FOWLER: No, I mean, sinus stuff. No, luckily both girls are all good. So I took this one for the team. Yeah, just maybe a little bit rundown last week. It was hot there. I wouldn't say necessarily quick turnaround, but we had a half day at home, flew up here Monday afternoon. So, yeah, body was just a little worn out and said, hey, chill out for a bit. Unfortunately, golf really couldn't wait, so I had to grind through it, and definitely nice to come out and put myself back into a better spot. Yeah, could have been, it could have turned into, obviously the no cut, but a long week sitting back there in the back just walking around this place over the weekend. So, yeah, nice to get a good one today and get ourselves back in the mix.
Q. You said body feeling better. What was it last year that was bothering you?
RICKIE FOWLER: Last year? Left shoulder. Stuff I had dealt with since basically high school and college. But it flared up early in the year. Sometimes I would have something, it would flare up for a little bit, maybe a week, go away. It just never went away and kept getting worse. So I tried to manage it the best I could through the year. Then once I got time off I was able to do some ACP injections, which are a type of PRP, just to help get it to chill out and calm down. So I've been in a lot better spot after that. Which, did that I guess September, and was able to get some work in later in the fall.
Q. Is this an old motocross injury?
RICKIE FOWLER: No, just swing, a lot of stress on the left shoulder, especially kind of the way I used to swing as a kid. It would just get irritated here and there and unfortunately last year it just got irritated and never went away.
