Q. So how does it feel to get through a playoff? A little nerve-wracking?
DAVID NYFJÄLL: Yeah, of course. Yeah, it was kind of -- first time I've been in a U.S. Amateur playoff, but feels great obviously.
Q. This was your second USGA Championship. What's different about this one than the first one for you?
DAVID NYFJÄLL: Well, I guess I played a little bit better. I had a tough stretch last time at Pinehurst, tough course, but I had a really good round out here at Oakmont the first stroke play round, which put me in a good position.
I hung in there yesterday -- no, it was today, I guess. Kind of confused on what day it is.
Q. Yeah. What did you learn about this course that helped you in the playoff?
DAVID NYFJÄLL: I think it's a really hard course, but since it is 12 for 1 you kind of need to be aggressive in this playoff; 1 and 12 is kind of tough odds, but I just kept saying that somebody has got to win. Just try to go out there and be aggressive. And it worked out well.
Q. Have you heard about your opponent who's the medalist, and do you know anything about him at all?
DAVID NYFJÄLL: I have heard the name, of course, but I don't know him personally. Be a fun match for sure.
Q. I didn't know if Northwestern had played West Virginia in anything.
DAVID NYFJÄLL: Okay, yeah, I don't think so. I heard his name.
Q. It could be that I might be like an away team because he's from this area, Greensburg.
DAVID NYFJÄLL: Oh, really?
Q. Yeah. So could be some cheering not against you but for him.
DAVID NYFJÄLL: You know, do what I can. Play as best I can.
Q. What are you doing well this week that has got you this far?
DAVID NYFJÄLL: I was really good, especially the first round, making putts within like 10 feet. I think that's key here, because with the greens being this fast you're bound to have a bunch of putts for par after a first putt or a pitch that are crucial to make.
I was good from that distance.
Q. On the 12-footer, what did you read there?
DAVID NYFJÄLL: Just outside left. It was not too dissimilar from my first putt or the birdie putt on the hole before. Just a little bit straighter so I kept it just outside and rolled in.
