Q. Tough match; how do you think it went, other than obviously the final score?
BLADES BROWN: Yeah, I mean, Jackson, he was doing what he was supposed to do. He was hitting fairways. He was making putts. He didn't really make many dumb bogeys on the back nine.
I didn't really do that as well as he did, which probably was the result why he beat me today.
But you win or you learn. I don't like the word "loss." I'm going to learn from this, and hopefully next year I'll be able to come back.
Q. What was different for you today than it was the last couple of days?
BLADES BROWN: I mean, that's just golf. One day you're a stripe show. One day I shot 8-under. I think today I was maybe 2-over. That's golf.
Q. What do you take away from the whole week, being medalist and the whole thing?
BLADES BROWN: There's so many takeaways. To have my name up there with Jack Nicklaus and I don't know who else -- Bobby Jones, that's pretty special. Not many people can say that they did that.
A lot to learn from. Definitely need to hit fairways. Definitely need to hit some good iron shots. I'm just happy that I get to have Jack on the bag. What other person would get to say they have a pretty good friend on the bag.
Q. When you go back to school, will you do one of those what-I-did-on-my-summer-vacation pieces?
BLADES BROWN: Well, I've already missed the first week of school, so that's not ideal, but I think it was worth it.
Q. What would you tell your classmates in high school about this whole experience?
BLADES BROWN: I mean, I have 200 plus messages from all my friends. They're like, oh, my gosh, the U.S. Amateur? No way.
I don't know, it's just going to be fun. I think one of my friends, he might tackle me the day I get back just because he was like, oh, my gosh, you beat Gordon Sargent and all them in the stroke play. It's going to be fun.
Q. How do you think this sets you up for the future?
BLADES BROWN: I think it's a huge step. This is the biggest amateur event I've ever played in, and I won stroke play, or co-medaled stroke play. I've never done that before. Definitely one of the hardest courses I've ever played, so I definitely can take what I learned here and apply it to -- I'm going to get back to Nashville and I'm going to think, like golf is so easy. There's a lot to take away from this tournament.
