Quick Quotes

Q. Brooks, you're probably going to end the day about five, six shots off the lead, but as a two-time U.S. Open champion, you know what it takes to win. What is your mindset going into tomorrow before you tee it up?

BROOKS KOEPKA: Go play good. That's what I need to do if I want a chance to win. So go do that.

Q. Is there an element of your game that you believe is going to allow you to get there tomorrow?

BROOKS KOEPKA: Got to hit fairways and make putts. It's simple.

Q. A little bit about your round today. You had three birdies through 10. Seems like things were really clicking. What was working well for you at that moment?

BROOKS KOEPKA: I drove the ball in the fairway today. I think that was the difference. Yesterday I didn't drive it in the fairway. Put it in the fairway, a lot more opportunities, just missed a couple putts. So I can't complain there. I've just been unfortunate. Every time I've hit it in the rough, I've had terrible lies. Not the lies you need.

Q. So when you had those two birdies on the back nine, was that the issue, missing the fairway? And if you bring that back --

BROOKS KOEPKA: Yeah, the one was a bad lie in the bunker, and then terrible lie around the green. You just can't -- it's tough around these places if you're going to do that. I thought I hit a good bunker shot there, and I don't know what it did, if it hit something and went forward. I wasn't too disappointed.
