BEN JAMES: 1-under par is a great score, so I just plugged along, missed in the right spots, and gave myself some par putts when I got out of position. I was able to roll those in nicely and hit a lot of fairways. Golf course is hard, but everyone is playing it.
Q. When you're over a really difficult golf shot and the wind is like crazy, is there anything like a mantra that you have to tell yourself to just focus?
BEN JAMES: I think the harder it is, the less you have to care. All you can control is what you're doing, making a good swing and the elements are the elements. You just care kind of less when the elements get hard.
Q. Any weird shots out there? I was 120 out and I hit a 4-iron type of stuff?
BEN JAMES: Yeah, most every shot was weird, but I'm just happy how I managed it, yeah.
Q. Brooks said he didn't -- he thought the greens were a little bit softer than they've been because of the fog. Do you agree with that?
BEN JAMES: I didn't play in 2018, so I don't know.
Q. Just even this week?
BEN JAMES: A little bit maybe, but they have to be with this amount of wind. There was gusts. It was par on the front nine, but played 700 yards basically. It's very windy. So everyone was doing their thing, what they need to do.
