Quick Quotes

Q. I know to lose in the semifinals is always a tough one --

MATT SUGHRUE: Yes, it is.

Q. Because a lot of exemptions you get from being in the final and all that stuff. Today just didn't seem like you --

MATT SUGHRUE: I played fine this morning, but I was just a little off from the start. Thought I'd get it going, but it just never happened.

Q. At the end it was pretty tough --

MATT SUGHRUE: Very tough.

Q. One mistake on 8 --

MATT SUGHRUE: No, he played solidly.

Q. Did he put it in the water on 8?

MATT SUGHRUE: No. No. I hit it to a foot.

Q. So basically conceded?

MATT SUGHRUE: Yeah.

Q. That was your best hole of the day?

MATT SUGHRUE: I can't remember. I can't remember. It was just a blur.

Q. You've been in these so often. You've made decent runs a bunch of times. What do you take from this week that you'll be able to use again?

MATT SUGHRUE: Well, I get some exemptions into next year and the following year, so that's nice. I'm still competitive. I mean, I was sniffing the final. I mean, even though I'm turning 65, I don't feel it, so I still --

Q. You don't look it.

MATT SUGHRUE: I feel like I can still compete. But this is the granddaddy of them all here. You want to win this more than anything. But 155 guys go away disappointed. Only one guy is ecstatic.

But a semifinal finish, it's more than respectable, and I played some great players, and I played solidly through the week. So I'm pretty pleased with what happened.

Q. It's not easy to get through these --

MATT SUGHRUE: No, this is a grind.

Q. Even Todd White today lost in the quarterfinals. You've got to be on for six straight matches. It's not easy.

MATT SUGHRUE: Okay, I'm going to go catch my flight.
