Q. You ran out of U.S. Senior Amateur guys to beat. You went through a gauntlet for three matches in a row.
ROBERT NELSON: Yeah, the gauntlet is the right word, in Mike and Bob and Chip. Geez. Great guys, had a blast, played my butt off. Gas tank is a little on the low side right now, so got a little loose with some swings on this last 18 and missed some key putts, short putts. That didn't help.
Q. What holes were those, do you remember?
ROBERT NELSON: The biggest one was hitting the tee ball in the water on 15, and then he opened the door on 16, and I -- I just wanted to throw up. That changes the whole match. It does. I keep those two balls out of the water, and I'm good. Or better. I'm better.
Q. This is a lot of golf for you guys that don't play a ton of -- I was talking to Louis, he doesn't play much golf at all. You're asked to come out here and play double rounds in 90 plus degree heat under intense conditions. This is not playing with your buddies back at the club for a $5 Nassau.
ROBERT NELSON: No, we would have some cold beer in that format. Yeah, what is it, eight rounds since Thursday?
Q. Yeah, with two practice rounds, two stroke play rounds and four matches.
ROBERT NELSON: Eight rounds of golf, I've not done that ever, I don't think. I think I'm close to being right on ever. That's a lot.
Q. What did you find out about yourself this week that you can take going forward?
ROBERT NELSON: I've got a lot of fight. I've played competitive golf long enough to know that you don't give up. Just keep grinding. You never know what's going to happen, especially in match play. Good gracious. You just keep hanging in there.
I had a good mindset. Got a little frustrated this afternoon. My caddie was just keeping my head screwed on straight. Trying to, anyway.
