Q. Here with Mike McCoy, champion of the 2025 U.S. Senior Amateur. How are you feeling right now?
MIKE McCOY: A little numb. It happened -- I got off to a great start, and I've really been in good form. I didn't think I'd beat myself today. I figured someone was going to have to play really good to beat me. I just played solid. I feel great. I feel great. I'm so honored to win a USGA championship. I love the USGA. A lot of my whole golfing history has sort of been build upon their championships and trying to get to them and advance and some day win one, and I finally did, and of course I never dreamed I'd win another one, and I got a chance to captain the Walker Cup team and play on a Walker Cup team, so it's been a dream come true. I love the USGA and everything it stands for and the people that work there.
I'm just really honored to be the champion.
Q. I know we talked about it yesterday, you said I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but you are now the only name in USGA history to have won both the Mid-Am and the Senior Am. What does that mean to you, and are you looking forward to going back to Jersey and seeing your name on the wall?
MIKE McCOY: I definitely will go back and see my name for sure. Anytime you do something for the first time, I guess, it's pretty special. I think it'll get done again. There's some good mid-ams coming behind, so somebody is going to do it. But it's good to be first, and I never really gave it much thought until this week. Pretty happy about it.
Q. Obviously you got off to that hot start. What was working for you there on that front nine? Obviously getting off to a 3-up lead, you could be aggressive, but what was working on the front?
MIKE McCOY: Yeah, I putted pretty solid, and again, drove it in play, because there's a lot of little trees around here, and these trees can get in your way. I avoided those most of the week, and I didn't beat myself. I didn't just give him any holes. I made him stay in there and fight to the end.
Yeah, I think that was the key is just not throwing any holes away.
Q. The rest of the USGA staff are wondering, are you bringing the trophy with you to Cypress Point? Is it making a little tour over there?
MIKE McCOY: You know, it might. It might. We've got some friends that are going to be out there, so we might have a little party out there. That might be a good idea.
