THE MODERATOR: Annika Sorenstam, even par today, 4-under for the tournament. How did the conditions fare this morning compared to yesterday when you went out in the afternoon?
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: Early on I thought it was as benign as can be. I mean, it's a beautiful morning. There's just hardly any wind, greens are smooth.
The wind started to pick up I think the last maybe 11 holes or something. Of course, the greens were smooth all day. The course is great shape, but I mean, the wind picked up, it was a little tricky at some times. It kept swirling, but I mean, it's a great scoring day, for sure.
I had some chances, played a little aggressive there on 17. Had to take my medicine, but other than that, it was, yeah, okay.
THE MODERATOR: You talked about working your driver after yesterday's round. How was that part of your game today?
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: That was better, so now I have some other parts that I got to work on. It's always something.
But, no, I think I drove it decently. I hit a few good ones there, which helps, you know, just being in the fairway versus being in the rough.
Yeah, but it's always something I've got to fine-tune.
THE MODERATOR: Questions.
Q. You missed one fairway. Pretty decent.
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: Was that what it was? It felt like more, but okay.
Q. What was your decision-making on 17?
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: I felt --
Q. Did you consider laying up?
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: No, because then I would have had to hit, like, I don't know, 8. I hit a 3-wood, and it didn't really catch at all and was a little left. It was just right on the edge.
I mean, looking back you say, Well, why didn't you, but that shot in the bunker is a little tricky, but I want to hit it clean and came a little low. Then as you saw, it rolled over. It was laying in a crater, like in a hole. I was a little surprised because I thought it rolled in and not land in. Then from there it got a little choppy.
Q. (Off microphone).
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: Sometimes you've got to go for it to go for the prize.
