Q. So, birdies at one, three, seven, and 12 today. Anything remarkable you can walk us through?
TOMMY GAINEY: Well, actually the one on the first hole was kind of -- it was unsuspected, because we had the wind in off the right, and when I hit the shot it switched to downwind.
My ball, I mean, I had like a 35-footer, something like that. End up making that putt. But I got done on the first hole with the wind and I've got it three more times out here today with the wind.
But listen, this is a U.S. Open. Nobody expects this place to play easy. 3-under is leading. I mean, it is well in in golf on this course that even par, 1-over could win this tournament. If the greens, if the USGA do what they normally do on Open golf courses, this place is going to be really, really tough come Saturday.
Q. Yeah. Absolutely.
TOMMY GAINEY: And I just hope that I'm -- I'll be here Saturday. Because like I said, it's a U.S. Open; you never know. You can get a couple good breaks out here or you could get a couple really bad ones and make some big numbers.
You can be going home. So I like the way I hit it today. I made some putts, unlike like the last hole, but I look forward to trying to hit it a little bit better tomorrow and keeping it around even to a couple under.
Q. Yeah. So it's your first Senior Open.
TOMMY GAINEY: It is.
Q. T6 after round one for now. Feeling good, good start?
TOMMY GAINEY: I am. I'm feeling good but I'm tired. I mean, it's a U.S. Open, man, it's going to hit you in the face. It's going to punch you in the face, hit you in the face, every single hole. So you got to be on top of your game mentally and physically. If not, this heat and this golf course will knock you down and you won't get up.
