Quick Quotes

Q. Can I start off by talking about some success on the Ladies European Tour earlier this year. I think you were sixth at the Belgian Ladies Open, is that right, so some success this year. Talk about any positives you're taking from this coming into this week?

MANON DE ROEY: Yeah, so the beginning of the year I started on the LET because I didn't get into any of the tournaments here. I wanted to go out strong on the LET this year, and I did. I had three top-10 finishes.

In Belgium, that was quite nice to play as well, as well. I played quite well there, finished top 10, as well, and then qualified for here, so that was really exciting.

Q. Talk about qualifying. Just talk us through what that was like. That was in Belgium, as well, right? So just take us through that process and how you were feeling once you realized you qualified.

MANON DE ROEY: Yeah, so the qualifier was after the tournament in Belgium and I feel like playing at home is always quite mentally hard because a lot of people want to talk to you and stuff, so playing the qualifier after a tournament was quite tough, and 36 holes is always a lot of golf anyway.

So the first nine holes of my qualifier I was really tired, but I was like, I just need to walk fast and keep it up.

Ended up -- I also ended up in a playoff, as well. That was even more holes.

But I'm very excited to be here. It's my first U.S. Open, so just going to enjoy it and enjoy the experience.

Q. Is this your first time at Pebble Beach?

MANON DE ROEY: Yeah.

Q. What are your thoughts on the course, seeing it for the first time?

MANON DE ROEY: Yeah, I've seen it on TV a lot at other tournaments and stuff, but it's really impressive. Like some of the holes are really cool, the scenery and stuff around it. The course is in great shape, of course.

I think it suits my game, so I'm really excited for this week.

Q. Any part of your game you think fits the course really well?

MANON DE ROEY: I think my length from the tee is quite an advantage. Maybe some on the par-5s I can reach in two. But you have to be kind of precise. Like you have to hit it straight, and the greens are quite small so you have to be precise on that. So I think the length will help a little bit for me.

Q. Any kind of goals or expectations you're setting for yourself or trying to avoid that and just enjoy the moment?

MANON DE ROEY: I didn't really set goals for this week, but I'm just going to enjoy the moment. Of course I want to make a cut and see how high I can finish. I'm just going to focus on my game, play good shots, and see the results at the end.

Q. The first time the Women's Open is coming to Pebble Beach, such an iconic course; what does that mean for the women's game overall and that you're a part of the history of that?

MANON DE ROEY: Yeah, I think it's a big deal for women's golf in general. It's cool because this is like a very touristy place, as well, so a lot of people are going to see the women play on this course, as well, so maybe that will have an effect in the future for us.
