New York City

Connecticut Sun

Nell Angloma

Q. Just coming to a team where you're going to have multiple French teammates, French head coach, how much does that provide a comfort for making your transition to the WNBA?

NELL ANGLOMA: It's good for me because I know some people who can help me. It's more comfortable for me.

Q. What were your conversations like with the Sun? What were they most excited about in your game?

NELL ANGLOMA: I talked a little before with the head coach, Rachid (Meziane). Very grateful for this opportunity and I'm excited to meet the fans, new staff, all of them. I cannot wait to start the season.

Q. There's a new CBA that just was ratified. What do you think of it? And how much did you know about what life in the WNBA was like before this big new contract?

NELL ANGLOMA: It's amazing for women's basketball. I'm really happy to arrive in the WNBA at this moment. It's just really, really good for women's basketball, yes.

Q. We hear a lot about how New York style of basketball is really gritty. You're joining a team that is also very gritty, and Rashid praises that a lot. How would you describe French basketball?

NELL ANGLOMA: In French, the match is really physical. To play in professional league in France allowed me to improve my IQ, my skills and to learn because I played with my teammates who are older than me. That's allowed me to grow up.

Q. Leila Lacan was Connecticut's first-round pick a couple years ago. How familiar are you with her? Have you ever played together or against each other, and how do you see your game complementing her?

NELL ANGLOMA: I did one year with Leila Lacan when I was in INSEP. I'm happy to meet her again. That's great.

Q. What was your reaction like to hear your name called today? And what has it been like to be in New York for this moment?

NELL ANGLOMA: It's been a lot for me because I work hard for this. I feel so excited and so grateful for my family, for my coach and all the people who support me. I feel happy and blessed. So blessed.

Q. What's one thing that American audiences should know about your game?

NELL ANGLOMA: I think I would say I'm a competitor. I play with a lot of energy and passion. I want to do my best to help my team win. Just excited to meet all of them to show them who I am.
